The After Movie is ready!

Here is a beautiful after movie made by Robert Schepers. The audio was recorded by Bas Ouwehand. We look back on a very successful concert on March 9. The children played their concert of 2 x 50 minutes with great pleasure and conviction. The first composition that the children performed was still a bit tense but soon the relaxation came and the fun burst out. Annemijn and Floris had put together a very varied program from classical music to jazz music. The children presented the show effortlessly and with humor. The Arena Hall was completely filled with an enthusiastic audience. The good sound and light on stage made their concert visually and audibly a great success. Sound was in the hands of Bas Ouwehand and the decoration of the stage and the light were done by employees of De neushoorn. It was really great! The audience was overwhelmed by the fact that two young children brought two full sets including the presentation at a high level. They played a few compositions as a duo and Annemijn played another duo with her classical teacher Arjen Beintema. The Rolo’s also thought it was important to offer space to other young talent. For this they invited Marinde Muntendam. Marinde, 9 years old, played two compositions with great dedication. The audience enjoyed it! The biggest part of the concert The Rolo’s were accompanied by three great musicians. Swinging harder than this trio is impossible. Frans van Geest, Vincent Koning and Gijs Dijkhuizen let the children grow musically on stage. The second set was dedicated to the very special guest, Mike Boddé. It started with a vamp in which Floris and Mike challenged each other musically. The vamp was the start of a composition that has become an indispensable part of the children’s repertoire, The AnFaFloFri Shuffle. A composition made by their father Jeroen Rol. The highlight was the performance by Mike and Annemijn of a composition by Wayne Shorter, Infant Eyes. Mike continued his part with very musical improvisations on names of people from the audience. Instant composing of a high level. Really incredible! Then a very entertaining interpretation of letters by Mozart. The last piece was a premiere, namely a composition by Floris called Brecker Hacker. The roof came off! As an encore a beautiful interpretation of If I Should Lose You in a performance by Hank Mobley. Floris played his melodica for this. It was a great honor that the Dutch television program, the NOS-Jeugdjournaal, came to film and interview the children about the concert of The Rolo’s & Friends. The item was broadcasted on Monday March 10th on TV and on the You-Tube channel of the NOS-Jeugdjournaal. The collaboration with 058 Jazz and De Neushoorn in Leeuwarden was a great success. It is important to mention the various funds and sponsors that made this concert possible. This concert is made possible by the Dutch Cultural Fund, partly thanks to the Louwe Kooijmans Van der Sluijs Fund; Municipality of Leeuwarden; Old Burgerweeshuis; The New City Orphanage; Anne Sollie Pianos and Grand Pianos; WKB Netherlands. Thank You! The music under the aftermovie are three short fragments from: Bag’s Groove (Milt Jackson), Brecker Hacker (Floris Rol) and AnFaFloFri Shuffle (Jeroen Rol).
