Great success during final concert, Sneekweek!

On August 8th, The Rolos were guests of the DE BASIC Jazz & Pop Orchestra, conducted by Theo Brouwer. The orchestra delivered a dazzling two-hour show at a beautiful location, the Kolk near the Waterpoort. About halfway through the program, Annemijn and Floris were on stage. They began as a duo with the beautiful violin concerto, Romance by Svendsen. Approximately 90 sloops and a few thousand listeners enjoyed this musical surprise. Next, The Rolos performed the beautiful composition by Martin Fondse and Margriet Sjoerdsma, “Every Age I Have Been Grateful,” together with the orchestra’s string section. Finally, the children concluded with a composition by Floris, “Brecker Hacker.” This composition is an ode to the great Brecker Brothers. This funky piece got the audience moving, not only because of the great groove but also because Floris had his ultra-cool instrument hanging around his neck: the keytar! Floris really wanted to play this instrument because he saw Herbie Hancock play it.
