A dream come true! Floris is a huge fan of the great pianist Monty Alexander. He enjoys listening to several of this giant’s albums, especially “We’ve Only Just Begun” and “The Monty Alexander Trio Live at the Montreux Festival.” When Floris heard that Monty Alexander was performing in Cologne, he immediately asked his father if he could attend. Then they discovered it was a concert with the fantastic WDR big band. The amazing trumpeter Ruud Breuls arranged for Floris to attend the dress rehearsal at the WDR studios. The next day, Floris was also invited to the sound check and the concert. Fantastic! During the break in the dress rehearsal, Monty Alexander asked Floris if he would play something for him. Floris received some great tips from the grandmaster and had a wonderful experience: playing with the Monty Alexander Trio! Luke Sellick on bass and Jason Brown on drums.
The concert was incredible. The WDR Big Band sounded great and the concert with the Monty Alexander Trio was fantastic.
